Application Development

Software you can still change in three years.

Web, mobile and internal applications, led by an architect and built so that the next team can pick them up: your repository, your cloud account, and the decisions written down while the reasoning is still fresh.

What you leave with

  • A frank read on scope, risk and the decisions that are expensive to reverse
  • A delivery approach and team shape that fits your budget and timeline
  • What a thin first release would contain, and what it would prove

With a senior architect, not a salesperson. Sixty minutes, no cost, no obligation.

The failure mode

The software was delivered. Then nobody could change it.

The common disappointment with a custom application is not that it failed to launch. It is that eighteen months later a small change takes six weeks, nobody remembers why a decision was made, and the people who built it are somewhere else. That outcome is decided early, by choices that have nothing to do with how the screens look.

✎

Decisions written down

The handful of choices that are expensive to reverse get recorded with their reasoning while the reasoning is still fresh. Cheap at the time, and the difference between a system that can be changed and one that can only be replaced.

◉

An architect on the work

Not a reviewer who appears at the end. The same person who makes the structural decisions is accountable for them when they turn out to be wrong.

⚙

Built to be handed over

Your repository, your cloud account, your pipeline, from the first week. Handover is a state we maintain throughout rather than an event at the end.

What we build

Web, mobile and the internal systems that never get a launch party.

☁

Web applications and portals

Customer-facing and internal, including the authentication, roles and permission work that decides how much of the rest will hurt.

▣

Mobile

Where a phone is genuinely the right device: field work, scanning, a customer app that has to work with a bad signal. Often the answer is a web application that behaves well on a phone, and we will say so.

☷

Internal platforms

The systems that run the business and are held together by spreadsheets and one person’s memory. Unglamorous, and usually the highest return on the list.

⇄

Connected from the start

New applications rarely live alone. The integration with what you already run is designed into the build rather than added when the first data mismatch appears.

Integration work
How delivery runs

Something real in production early, then a rhythm.

1

Frame

What the software has to make true for the business, what it must not break, and what is out of scope. Ends with an estimate you can take to a board and the option to stop.

2

Thin slice

One complete path to production, narrow but real: deploy, authentication, monitoring and one piece of actual work. Everything risky is proven while it is still cheap to change.

3

Build

Two-week cycles with something you can use at the end of each. Scope moves, the date and the budget stay where you can see them.

4

Hand over

Documentation, runbook and your team working in the code before we leave. We are happy to stay for support, but you should not need us to.

Capabilities

What we build

Web, mobile and internal platforms, led by an architect and built so your team can own them.

Web applications and portals

Customer portals, internal tools and SaaS products, on modern frameworks your team can hire for.

Mobile

iOS and Android where a phone is the right device, cross-platform where that keeps one codebase honest.

Cloud-native back ends

APIs, data stores and serverless or container platforms on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, with infrastructure as code from day one.

AI inside the product

Search, summarisation, assistants and agents added where they earn their keep, with evaluation and cost controls built in.

Taking over existing systems

An assessment of code, infrastructure and risk, then maintain, refactor in places or replace in stages.

Handover built in

Your repository and cloud account from week one, decision records, runbooks and your engineers working in the code before we leave.

When people call us

Sound familiar?

  • A previous build launched but cannot be changed without weeks of work
  • You need a product built and do not yet have an in-house engineering team
  • An internal process runs on spreadsheets and one person's memory
  • You have inherited an application nobody fully understands
  • You want AI features without betting the product on them
Why Aitina

A small, senior team that stays accountable.

  • Architect-led. Every engagement is led by a senior architect who stays accountable for the decisions, from the first hour to the handover.
  • Over twenty years of building and integrating software. Enterprise integration, cloud platforms, product delivery and now AI agents, across sectors where systems cannot fail.
  • Independent and vendor-neutral. AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and whatever platforms you already run. We recommend what fits, including doing less.
  • Research, applied. The patterns we use are published openly on The Software Lens and applied by our R&D Wing, so you can read the reasoning before you hire us.
  • We run what we recommend. We build our own product, Nexcubator, on the same architecture we design for clients.
  • You own everything. Your repository, your cloud account and your documentation from the first week. Based in Ireland, working across the EU and beyond.

Questions we get asked

Do you work fixed price or time and materials?▼

Both, and which one fits depends on how well the problem is understood. A short framing phase can be fixed price because its scope is clear. A long build at a fixed price usually means one side is carrying a risk premium, so we would rather agree a budget, show progress every two weeks and let you stop at any point.

What technology do you build on?▼

Ordinary, well-supported tools chosen for who will maintain the system rather than for what is interesting this year. If your team already works in a particular stack, that is a strong argument on its own, and we will tell you when we think it is the wrong one.

What happens after launch?▼

Whatever you want to happen. Some clients take the system in-house immediately, some keep us for a set number of days a month, and some come back when something significant changes. The handover is done either way, because a system only one supplier can maintain is a problem we would rather not create.

Can you take over an application somebody else built?▼

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. It starts with a short assessment of the code, the infrastructure and the risks, and ends with an honest read on whether it should be maintained, refactored in places, or replaced in stages.
