What personal data this website collects, why, who processes it, and the rights you have over it. Short, because we collect very little.

Who we are
Aitina Tech Limited ("Aitina Tech", "we") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website, aitina.ie. Our registered office is Block B, Maynooth Business Campus, Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland. You can reach us about anything on this page through the contact page or by post at that address.
What we collect, and why
When you send us a message or book a consultation
The contact form and the consultation request form ask for your name, your work email address and, optionally, your company, its size, the topic you want to discuss, a timeframe and a preferred way to reach you. We use this only to reply to you and to prepare for the conversation you asked for. The legal basis is that you asked us to (taking steps at your request before entering a contract, GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
What you type is sent to us as an email through Amazon Web Services (a Lambda function and Amazon SES in the Dublin region) and arrives in a mailbox this company owns and administers itself. It is not written to a database, it does not go into a CRM or a mailing list, and it is never sold or passed to anyone else. Only our own employees who need to answer you can read it. We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as it remains useful to the working relationship, so we do not promise a deletion date we could not keep; what we do commit to is that it stays private, stays inside the company, and is never used for anything other than the conversation you started. You can ask us to erase it at any time and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
When you simply read the site
The site is static pages served by Amazon CloudFront from an EU region. To deliver a page the network necessarily processes your IP address and browser request, and it keeps short-lived access and security logs, which we use only to keep the site up and to block abuse. We do not use them to identify you.
Analytics, only if you agree
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and how people arrive at them. It sets cookies, so it is off until you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit. If you reject, or ignore the banner, nothing from Google is loaded. If you accept, your choice is remembered for six months and Google processes your truncated IP address, the pages you view and your browser type on our behalf; Google may transfer that data to Google LLC in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Both event data and user data are kept in our Google Analytics property for no longer than fourteen months, after which Google deletes them automatically. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time from Cookie settings in the page footer. The cookie policy lists every cookie involved.
Embedded videos
Episodes of The Software Lens are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and load only when you press play. Until then no request goes to YouTube. Once you play a video, YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) processes your data under its own privacy policy.
Who else sees your data
Our processors are Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (hosting and form delivery) and, only with your consent, Google Ireland Limited (analytics and embedded video). Our email is not outsourced to a third-party mail provider: enquiries land in a mailbox the company owns and its own staff maintain. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we disclose it to no one else unless the law requires it.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions travel encrypted, and the mailbox they arrive in is operated by us rather than by an outside provider, with access limited to the employees who need it. We hold as little as possible in the first place, which is the most effective protection of all.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these, use the contact page; we answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 (dataprotection.ie).
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under sixteen.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how we use analytics will also reset the cookie banner so you are asked again.
